Tik Tok is the new-ish kid on the proverbal block when it comes to the ever evolving social media landscape. I’ll be honest, at age 40 and being a lover of the internet and social media in general, I was a bit apathetic towards another new platform.
We already have enough surely with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and You Tube (and the rest), so why go on to Tik Tok and add more to the already busy mix?
I’ve had the app for at least a year with about 20 followers (all close friends) and hadn’t done much with it, then one day at the tail end of 2020 I thought I’d take a closer look with my Playlist DJ’s hat on…
After dicking about with it for a bit I found some really excellent housemusic pages on there and a ton of oldskool rave content which I enjoy too. I started following and enngaging and eventually posting on average twice per day and find us sitting with just under 600 new followers in a few months. Ok, big deal, but promising signs if you’re looking to engage with a new audience.

Not only does the platform have almost excellent housemusic content (I say almost, it just needs more housemusic content on there and new accounts) BUT, it has engaging enough and adult enough content to keep someone in their 40’s on there (even though it’s touted as an app’ for the Youth). I’m talking personal development stuff, film content, the odd conspiracy post and some really funny comedy both old / nostalgic and new. I would defintely give it a go I think you might be a little bit surprised.
So, the point of this blog post is to get you started with some of the accounts I think you should follow to get you started on your TikTok housemusic journey! In no particular order

The guys at OldSchoolDeepHouse are already legends on Instagram. They’ve got over 150,000 people who follow them for their outstanding housemusic video content. They tend to post that golden mix of high quality tunes with funny, entertaining and energetic videos. They’re already starting to crack TikTok as you can see be there 10k + audience. Check them out by clicking the link above.

Deephousetunes keep their page and tunes classy and always have brilliant content usually with live / recorded DJ sets. It’s proper deep house music on their Instagram page and TikTok is no different. They’re smashing it on Instagram and quite rightly so. I’d highly recommend dropping them a follow, it’s defintely going to be worth getting your eyes and ears wrapped around their content.

The guys over at House Music Moments have ear and eye catching content going out regularly. They’ve actually built a larger audience on TikTok than Instagram so kudos to them!

There are some serious artists on Tik Tok too, with DJ / Producer, Sonny Fodera making some house music content on there. You can see him perform at gigs and more recently from his kitchen given the current Corna Virus restictions. Still, music is music and it’s first class! Check him out by clicking the link above or on the image.

If you like your house and techno then Patrick Topping is your man. He seems to be on fire right now and is popping up everywhere, even in times of lockdown. He’s got a lot of followers over social media and is building a nice following on Tik Tok too! Check him out by clicking the link in bio or click the image.

It’s no surprise to see housemusic giant, Defected Records on Tik Tok. They’re not overly active on the platform with their last post being nearly two months ago, but knowing Defected from their content elsewhere it won’t be long until they’re dominating the housemusic space on Tik Tok.
